Goofy Rummy is a game that I found in the local card rooms when I first moved from Toronto to Vancouver in 1991. It seemed incredibly popular at the time, so I decided that this was something that I must learn. I had no idea how addictive it would become.

From what I have found out by asking the local players, it seems to originate in eastern Europe and was brought to the Lower Mainland about 30 or 40 years ago. The game itself seems to be highly localised with it mostly being played on the south coast, the Okanagan, and northwest Washington State. I have seen it being played in Calgary and Edmonton, but usually by displaced or visiting Vancouverites. I myself have taught the game to several people, and all that have learned it, can't get enough of it. It seems to appeal to anyone with any desire to play cards.

The point of this website is to now bring a greater awareness of the game to rest of the world. I sincerely wish to see this game become highly popular beyond my little corner of the planet. Ideally this site will foster a community of players from all over. I intend to explain it as thoroughly as possible, create a message board for people that wish to discuss, or organize a game. I will be creating a program to do online scoring, as that can be difficult to master. Also, if things go well, people will be able to play online.
